CELTIC FROST Mainman: 'It Is Truly Flattering That Our Past Music Is Being Recognized Now'
February 17, 2008CELTIC FROST mainman Tom Gabriel Fischer has posted the following message on his official blog:
"It was predominantly CELTIC FROST's reemergence as an aggregate of the friendship between Martin [Ain; bass] and me which made it possible to not only discuss CELTIC FROST's history at length in the course of the past seven years but also that of HELLHAMMER.
"My contributions to HELLHAMMER and CELTIC FROST have been an utterly personal quest, fueled by the circumstances of my youth. Anything that arose around it is, at the end of the day, of no importance. What we human beings are creating on this planet, and how serious we (including me) are taking ourselves while doing it, is in actual fact completely insignificant within the grandness and continuation of the universe.
"It is truly flattering that our past music is being recognized now. But, far from wanting to be ungrateful or arrogant, this music only counts for me on a level so personal that nobody will ever see nor understand it."
According to MTV.com's Metal File, Swiss avant-garde/metal pioneers CELTIC FROST are putting together an album tentatively titled "Monotheist Companion" that will feature unreleased songs from 2006's "Monotheist" sessions and rearrangements of tracks from the album. The disc is scheduled for a summer release.
CELTIC FROST has been confirmed as the main headliner of the 13th annual Roadburn Festival, which will take place April 18-19, 2008 at the 013 Club in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
Although CELTIC FROST is recognized as a pivotal influence on both the extreme metal and gothic metal genres, Roadburn also considers CELTIC FROST a seminal influence on the current stoner, doom and psychedelic scene. Indeed, Roadburn feels CELTIC FROST merits notice alongside such established pioneers as HAWKWIND and BLACK SABBATH.
In celebration of this lesser-acknowledged side to the metal giants, CELTIC FROST will perform a special one-off show on Saturday, April 19 at Roadburn, comprised of a repertoire which will be slightly different from the tour repertoire played in 2006 and 2007.
